Aim

To protect the environment and to insure a continuing development, Varistor AG has an environment management system which is fully integrated in the firms activities.

Climate neutral Company

To our firm conviction we decided to be a climate neutral company at October 2008 (see certificate)

Responsibilities of the management

The management integrates ecological principles as the firms aim, taking competitiveness and economy into account. It is under obligation to keep to current environmental demands. The firm checks the environmental situation annually with a view to conform with the business target.

Staff and organisation

Our internal organisation ensures that the ecological responsibility is passed on to all our employees and their areas of responsibility. Through information, motivation and further education we make sure that our employees think and act accordingly. Our knowledge is built on the state of technology and scientific knowledge.

Communication

We are obliged to communicate openly about environmental efforts thus encouraging our business partners to consider environmental behaviour.

Buildings and installations

As far as possible, we strive to influence our partners, to integrate ecologically friendly processes and materials, already in their planning stages and to improve existing plants.

Since May 2002 our own concern has been exclusively using natural electricity from Axpo. An energy-saving committee periodically checks the situation of energy consumption and acts appropriately.

Procuring and producers

We involve our producers in our environment management system and avoid products with problematic contents and procedures.

We support biological and fair trade products. In the chemical line we value products with reduced VOC-content. Our main supplier is in a worldwide leading position in this matter. Selecting new products and producers we heed ecological criteria.

Logistics

With optimal transport planning we ensure that transport of goods takes place with an minimum of ecological damage. Whenever possible we prefer shipping and rail freight. We only tolerate airfreight in exceptional cases. Our logistic partners are instructed accordingly.

Waste disposal

The concept of waste disposal begins in avoiding waste, wherever possible. Recyclable waste (paper, cardboard, glass, metal) is separated and disposed of accordingly.
